The Indian Army commissions officers through the IMA, Dehradun (Permanent Commission) and the OTA, Chennai/Gaya (Short Service Commission). Here is every route and how to apply.
After Class 12
- NDA & NA — UPSC written → SSB → Medical. Apply at upsconline.nic.in.
- 10+2 TES (Technical Entry Scheme) — shortlisted on JEE Mains → SSB (no written). Apply at joinindianarmy.nic.in.
After Graduation
- CDS – IMA (Permanent) and CDS – OTA (SSC) — UPSC CDS written → SSB → Medical (upsconline.nic.in).
- TGC, SSC (Tech) – Men & Women, NCC Special Entry, JAG — direct notification & shortlist → SSB (joinindianarmy.nic.in).
For serving personnel
- ACC & SCO — departmental written exam → SSB → Medical.
