How to Become an Officer in the Indian Air Force

The Indian Air Force commissions officers through the Air Force Academy, Dundigal (Hyderabad). Every branch begins with the AFSB.
After Class 12
- NDA (Air) — UPSC written → AFSB → PABT/CPSS → Medical (upsconline.nic.in).
After Graduation
- CDS – AFA (Flying) — UPSC CDS → AFSB → PABT → Medical (upsconline.nic.in).
- AFCAT – Flying Branch, Ground Duty (Technical) & (Non-Technical) — AFCAT written → AFSB → Medical. Apply at afcat.cdac.in.
- NCC Special Entry (Flying) — with an NCC Air Wing Senior Div 'C' certificate.
- Meteorology Entry — for post-graduates in science/maths streams.
